Defiance of Bryant and Bynum show Mike Brown is losing control

28 Mar

In course of 3 days, 2 of the Lakers starters have conducted themselves on the court in a manner that was so egregious and outside of the game plan that was laid out by the head coach that it required for those players to be benched during those games.

Kobe Bryant, a 14 time All Star, 5 time NBA champion and one of the greatest players to play this game at his position was benched by coach Mike Brown Sunday night in a game against Memphis with a little less than 6 minutes to play and the Lakers down by 14 points.  Kobe Bryant was the only starter pulled in the game at that time and didn’t get back until 1:51 was left in the game. The Lakers ended up losing to the Grizzlies 102-96.

Andrew Bynum is widely considered as the 2nd best big man in the game today and a 2 time NBA champion was pulled Tuesday night in the game against the Warriors with about 10 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter of a closely contested game after he took an ill advised and uncharacteristic 3 point shot. Mike Brown did not call Andrew Bynum’s number for the rest of the game as the Lakers went on to beat the Warriors 104-101.

Lakers announce Ramon Sessions to start tonight against Blazers

23 Mar

In a move that everybody, from fans to NBA observers, had anticipated was finally made officially today when Mike Brown announced that Ramon Sessions will be in the starting line up tonight against the Portland Trailblazers. Lakers reporter Mike Trudell reported the announcement on his twitter feed. Mike Brown had previously stated that he would start Steve Blake for the foreseeable future, but after Steve Blake struggled in this new role as the starter and combine that with how stellar Sessions had been during his time on the floor, it became obvious that starting Sessions was the necessary move.

Day counter till Mike Brown starts Sessions: Day 7

22 Mar

Ramon Sessions was acquired via trade from the Cleveland Cavilers on Thursday, March 15, 2012. With the acquisition, the Lakers had finally filled the void of a quick penetrating guard that they haven’t had since the days of Nick Van Exel. However, to many fans’ and analysts’ surprise Mike Brown stated in an interview with reporters that he doesn’t have any immediate plans to start Sessions and that Steve Blake will remain the starter for the “foreseeable future”.

In just 4 games since Sessions has been on the Lakers it has been blatantly clear who the best player on the court is at the point guard position. The team plays quicker, actually scores easy baskets in transition and points are manufactured from the point guard position in half court sets.

Taking all of the evidence into consideration, it should just be a matter of time before Mike Brown decides to make the move of starting his best player at the point guard position. Raining3s.com will track how long this will take.
