Lakers Win 3rd in a Row; Hold Off Hornets Late Run. Score 111-106

It might be early, but the Los Angeles Lakers might have found the game plan to get themselves out of their year long funk. The Lakers beat the New Orleans Hornets last night, 111-106 for their 3rd consecutive win. The Lakers current winning streak coincides with the ball movement and unselfishness that the players have exhibited in the last 3 games.

The Lakers had 34 assist last night on 39 made baskets. This follows nights of 26 assists against the Utah Jazz on Friday and 29 assists versus the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday. To put these numbers in perspective, on the year, the Lakers rank 15th in the league with an average of 22 assist per game. The San Antonio Spurs lead the league in assists per game with 25 per game.

Earl Clark has fit in nicely since being inserted into the starting line up and was huge against the Hornets, scoring 20 points and nabbing 12 rebounds.

Dwight Howard led the team in scoring with 24 points and had 5 steals.

Kobe Bryant dished out double digit assist for the 3rd consecutive game, ending with 11 on the night. The last time Kobe Bryant had 10 or more assist in 3 consecutive games was against the Phoenix Suns in games 2 through 4 of the 2010 Western Conference Finals.

The Lakers start their 7 game Grammy road trip tomorrow at Phoenix to play the Suns.
