Phil Jackson has been out of the NBA, and the limelight that accompanies it, for almost 2 years now. Basketball fans have been deprived of the Zen Master’s wisdom, cleverness and cunning approach.
Phil told it like it is, or at least as how he saw it; it didn’t matter the topic, player/person or even city.
He’s called Vladimir Radmanovic a “Space Cadet” for his times of mental lapses on the court.
In his book, The Last Season, he called Kobe Bryant “un-coachable” describing his stubborn nature.
He called the entire city of Sacramento a “cowtown” and the city of San Antonio nothing but a “tourist trap.”
He’s gotten into war of words through the media with the likes of Mark Cuban, David Stern and Clippers’ owner Donald T. Sterling.

The Los Angeles Lakers got more bad news thrown on top of the mountain of disappointments that have piled on this season. It was reported by Lakers beat writer Mike Trudell on Tuesday that the left knee injury that Metta World Peace sustained in last nights’ loss to the Golden State Warriors was a lateral meniscus tear.
An MRI on @MettaWorldPeace revealed a lateral meniscus tear. He'll return to L.A. to be examined Wed. by team Dr. Steve Lombardo.—

The Los Angeles Lakers 109-103 loss to the Golden State Warriors last night did more than just drop them 1 game in the standings; it returned the doubt that hovered over the team for most of the season. Much of that doubt had been erased during the Lakers most recent run that saw them climb out of the lower ranks of the Western Conference and back up to playoff contention.
It was just a few games ago that Dwight Howard had been praised for his renewed energy and activity on the defensive end.
Antwan Jamison, Jodie Meeks and Steve Blake had become a formidable 2nd unit.
Kobe was Kobe again.
Then…the last 3 games happened.

With the Los Angeles Lakers 103-100 home loss to the Washington Wizards on Friday, the Lakers have added additional drama to the last 3 weeks of the regular season. It was a major setback to say the least for a team holding on to their precarious 8th place position in the Western Conference. Instead of creating space from the pack of teams vying for one of the last playoffs spots, one of which the Lakers currently hold, the Lakers kept those teams’ hopes alive.
While the Washington Wizards have been much improved since the return of John Wall, they are a far inferior team to the Lakers both in terms of talent and experience. Add to the fact that the Wizards were playing on the road for their 3rd game in 5 nights against a team that is supposed to be making their feverish push towards playoffs. The loss at this juncture of the season for the Lakers is completely unacceptable.
The Lakers currently hold the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Jazz, Blazers and Mavericks are within striking distance for that final spot that the Lakers currently hold.
