The voting for the NBA All Star Game Reserves was released today by the NBA. The starters were announced last week and voted on by the fans. The reserves however are voted in by the NBA coaches vote which makes some of the selections a little surprising.
In the West, the biggest surprise was who was left off, 14 time NBA All Star Tim Duncan was not selected for this year by the coaches. Duncan’s numbers are not All-Star worthy, 14.8 ppg, 9.9 rpg; however, it’s Tim Duncan and due to muscle memory alone coaches seem to pencil in his name on the ballot. Also, Duncan’s numbers this year are comparable to his 2010-11 season where coaches voted him in despite unimpressive statistics.
Not surprisingly, there were no Los Angeles Lakers selected to the reserves of the Western Conference team.
Here is who will represent their respective conferences in the 63rd NBA All-Star Game:
Western Conference:
Dwight Howard – C – Rockets
James Harden – G – Rockets
Tony Parker – G – Spurs
Damian Lillard* – G – Blazers
LaMarcus Aldridge – F – Blazers
