- The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off one of the best performances of the season; a 113-99 home victory over the Boston Celtics. An emotional pre-game tribute to late Lakers owner Jerry Buss seemed to inspire the Lakers squad. Dwight Howard was noticeably active on both ends of the floor from the outset and finished with a team high 24 points and 12 rebounds. Earl Clark was also huge with 14 points and a team high 16 rebound. The Lakers had 7 players score in double figures.
- The Portland Trailblazers come in loser of 6 in a row and were just jumped by the Lakers in the standing, dropping to 10th place in the Western Conference.
- The Lakers won their last match up against the Portland Trailblazers on December 28th, 104-87. In that game, Kobe Bryant scored 27 and Dwight Howard added 21 points and 14 rebounds. Portland’s All Star forward, LaMarcus Adlridge, led the Blazers with 26 points in the lost.
