At about 4am Eastern Time, Marc Spears from Yahoo! Sports reported that a three team deal between the Lakers, Wolves and Blazers is currently being discussed and could be completed prior to he 3pm Eastern Time trading deadline.
In the rumored deal, the Lakers would send point guard Steve Blake to the Blazers and in turn they would ship guard Jamal Crawford to Minnesota. The Lakers would then acquire potent scoring forward Michael Beasley fromMinnesota to complete the 3 team deal.
Based on the salaries of the players rumored in the proposed deal, the Lakers will need to include additional player(s) in order to make the numbers work. With the Lakers being over the salary cap they will need to get back salaries within 25 percent of what they are shipping out. In order for the Lakers to absorb Michael Beasley 6.3 million dollar salary, they will have to include a player like Matt Barnes or Josh McRoberts with Steve Blake 4 million dollar salary in order to get within the required 25%.
