Lakers Make a Run Late But Still Fall to Clippers 107-102

4 Jan

The Los Angeles Clippers dominated in all of the hustle categories for the majority of the night. They killed the Los Angeles Lakers on the boards (47-36), grabbed what seemed like every offensive rebound and loose ball. The Clippers led for the entire game and had that lead reach as much as 19 points against the Lakers.

Somehow, the Clippers found themselves in ball game late in the 4th quarter.

The Lakers got within 2 points after a Kobe Bryant jumper at the top of the key with 1:29 remaining. That’s the closest that the Lakers would get.

Chris Paul put all hopes of a great Lakers come back to bed when he hit a jumper over Kobe Bryant with 0.19 seconds remaining.

Clippers beat the Lakers for the 2nd time this season, 107-102.

Chris Paul led the way for the Clippers with 30 points and 13 assists.

Kobe Bryant was again spectacular offensively Friday Night; he ended the night with 38 points and added 5 steals.

The Return of Oswald Bates on Radio 710 ESPN Los Angeles

Growing up I was a huge fan of the skit comedy show In Living Color that starred creators/comedians Keenan Ivory and Damon Wayans. The show ran for about 5 years and had quite a bit of talent on the show that went on to become big stars: Jamie Fox, Jim Carey and Jennifer Lopez to name a few.

Arguable, (in my book there is no argument) the real star of the show was Damon Wayans who’s characters were the most humorous and memorable of the show. I might even say iconic in some cases. When thinking of the early 90s at some point Damon’s characters on In Living Color start coming to mind, such as:

Lakers v Clippers showing on Prime Ticket provides many in L.A. first glimpse of new look Lakers

23 Oct

Due to the inability of Time Warner Cable to strike deals with most of the major cable and satellite carriers in Los Angeles to carry the new stations that now have the exclusive rights to show the local broadcast of all Lakers games in the Los Angeles market, TWC Sportsnet and its Spanish language counterpart TWC Deportes, much of the enormous Lakers fan base in and around Los Angeles have been unable to watch the new look Lakers this season.

Lakers’ magic number drops to 1 to clinch the Pacific

23 Apr

The Lakers dropped their magic number to win the 3rd seed in the Western conference and the Pacific division title to 1 after their 114-106 double overtime win over the Oklahoma City Thunder Sunday afternoon. The Lakers have 1 game remaining on their schedule and the Clippers, who are just a 1/2 game back of the Lakers in the standings, have 2 games remaining. With the Lakers owning the tie breaker over the Clippers due to winning the season series 2 to 1, the Clippers will have to get a game ahead of the Lakers in order to take the Pacific division crown. The Lakers’ magic number will go down with every win or Clippers lost; once it hits zero the Lakers will clinch the Pacific division.

The Clippers will play the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow night in Atlanta and end the season on the road against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. The Lakers will play their regular season finale against the Sacramento Kings in Arco Arena on Thursday. The Lakers could possibly have clinched the 3rd seed by the time they take the floor in Sacramento if the Clippers lose either of their 2 final games.

The Lakers are guaranteed no lower than the 4th spot and home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Lakers would like to avoid a first round match up against the Memphis Grizzlies who are currently in the 5th seed.
