Kobe Bryant had successful surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff on Wednesday which officially has ruled him out for the rest of the 2014-15 season.
Bryant was in good sprites after surgery, even finding time to thank all those that wished him well with a picture of him in a sling on Instagram.
The 9 month recovery period will mean that he is expected to be ready for the start of the preseason but might miss training camp which will open sometime in mid-September.
The Lakers are 2-9 without Bryant this season and currently on a 9 game losing streak. The Lakers’ record stands at 12-34 prior to facing the Chicago Bulls on Thursday at Staples Center.
