The 3 games off that Byron Scott game Kobe Bryant might have actually worked in both the energy department and providing time to reevaluate his approach. Bryant had his 2nd triple-double of the season against the Nuggets on Wednesday, aiding the Lakers to a 111-103 win.

Bryant took just 11 shots in the game which is just one more than his shot output in his first game back from his short hiatus. Bryant shot an efficient 6 for 11 from the field against the Nuggets and finished with a game high 23 points. Bryant achieved the triple-double by adding 11 rebounds and 11 assists to his stat line. Bryant is tied for 2nd in the NBA this season with 2 triple-doubles only behind Rajon Rondo’s 3 on the year.

Bryant spoke a little about the triple-double and his possible new approach to the game.

The recipients of Bryant’s passes helped in his assists totals by hitting shots and there were a few that were especially on the night. Ronnie Price who averages 3.5 points per game in his career was on fire on Wednesday, finishing 18 points on 6 for 10 shooting including 5 for 6 from 3. The 18 points tied a career high for Price which was the 2nd time this season he has met that mark. Price has been hot from behind the arc the last 2 games, shooting 7 for 8.

Carlos Boozer continued his stellar play off the bench, finishing with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Boozer has picked up his play since Scott demoted him to the bench, averaging 14.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and shooting 56 percent from the field which all beat his numbers as a starter.

According to STATS, Bryant is the second-oldest among active player to net a triple-double in a game, with the oldest being Tim  Duncan.

The Nuggets were led in scoring by Ty Lawson and Jusuf Nurkic who each scored 16 points.

Ed Davis has been playing well as a starter but had a quite night on Wednesday, finishing with 7 points and 4 rebounds. He also seemed to get a little gift courtesy of Nuggets’ guard Nate Robinson.

Tarik Black made his debut in a Lakers uniform but did not play on Wednesday.

The win improves the Lakers record to 10-22 but they remain in the 14th spot in the Western Conference.

The Lakers get New Year’s off and return home to play the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.
