The Los Angeles Clippers started their 7 game road trip in the most ideal way possible, a blow out 114-90 victory over the Orlando Magic that allowed them to rest their starters in the 4th quarter.
A big reason for the dominating win was the performance of the Clippers bench which scored 60 points on the night, led by Jamal Crawford who scored 22 points.
Crawford was part of the unit that led a 27 to 11 run late in the 3rd to put the game away for the Clippers.
“I thought they [bench] were great in the first half and then they came in in the second half and did the same thing” Said Doc Rivers. “When you play like that, like a whole team, it’s good.”
The Clippers bench outscored the Magic’s 60 to 23. Jordan Farmar added 13 points off the bench and Spencer Hawes 10.
With the bench playing tremoundously well, the Clips didn’t need much from their two stars, Blake Griffin who finished with 20 points and Chris Paul with 16 points and 9 assists.
The Magic were led by Tobias Harris who scored a game high 25 points and big man Nikola Vucevic, who is having a break out year, scored 19 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.
The win puts the Clippers record to 6-4 which places them in a tie for the 7th spot with the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Clippers now head to Miami to face the Heat on Thursday night.
