The Los Angeles Clippers appeared to have gotten a break on the schedule with the Chicago Bulls coming to town without both Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol who sat out Monday’s game with injuries; however, they came with plenty of firepower on both ends of the floor, namely Jimmy Butler and Joakim Noah who were the driving force in the Bulls 105-89 victory over the Clippers at Staples Center.¬†

The Bulls were led by Jimmy Butler who finished with a team high 22 points and 8 assists. Butler is having spectacular year, averaging 21.3 points per game, 6.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and shooting 50.8 percent from the field which is highly efficient for a perimeter player. Butler’s offensive breakthrough this season has been sorely needed considering their go-to offensive player, Derrick Rose, has missed half of the Bulls 10 games this season.

The heart and soul of the Bulls defense, Joakim Noah, finished with 11 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists.

The Bulls were able to keep the Clippers stars in check, with Chris Paul scoring just 12 points and registering 7 assists and Blake Griffin finishing 19 points and 10 rebounds.

“We tried to force things,” Griffin said after the game.

The Clippers had a 14 point lead in the 2nd quarter but the Bulls went on a 16-4 run to close the quarter and go into the half only down by a score of 50 to 48.

That Bulls lead grew to as much as 19 in the 4th quarter, putting the game out of reach for the Clippers.

Adding to the the Clippers problems against the Bulls was the division in support from what was supposed to be a home crowd for the Clips.  Both Chris Paul and Blake Griffin commented on the issue after the game.

The win keeps the Bulls road record perfect at 6-0 and 8-3 overall.

The loss drops the Clippers record to a disappointing 5-4 and even more troubling 4-3 at home.

The Clippers start their 7 game road trip in Orlando where they’ll face the Magic on Wednesday.
