Julius Randle showed flashes of his very unique skill set for a 6’9, 255 pound forward in the Lakers 94-86 win over the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday night. On a few plays Randle rebounded the ball on one end and took the ball coast to coast displaying his remarkable speed and ball handling skills for a big guy. Randle finished with 17 points on 7 for 10 from the field, and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Jeremy Lin came off the bench and scored 13 points and handed out 5 assists; however, he did have issues protecting the ball on the night, committing 6 turnovers.
Jordan Clarkson returned from his strained calf to play 15 minutes, scoring 6 points on 3 for 5 from the field.
The Lakers shut Kobe Brynt down for the rest of the preseason and Jordan Hill, who is pegged as the starter at center, sat out as well with a cervical strain.
The Blazers played rested 4 of their 5 starters, only Damian Lillard saw the court on Wednesday, scoring 8 points in 17 minutes.
The win brings the Lakers preseason record to 3-4. The preseason comes to an end on Friday for the Lakers when they face the Sacramento Kings in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Lakers will open up the 2014-15 NBA season on Tuesday when they face the Houston Rockets at Staples Center.
