Byron Scott has decided to shut Kobe Bryant down after 6 very impressive preseason games. The decision to sit Bryant is to provide rest before the start of the NBA season on Tuesday when the face the Houston Rockets at Staples Center.

Bryant looked closer to his normal self in the last 3 games where he averaged 26.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.

Wayne Ellington will replace Kobe Bryant in the starting line-up and Jordan Clarkson will return after sitting out the last 4 preseason games due to injury (strained left calf.) In 2 games Clarkson averaged 10.5 points, 4 rebounds and shot a perfect 9 for 9 from the free throw line.

Ryan Kelly is still out with a strained left hamstring.

The Lakers take on the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday night in Ontario, CA.
