Kobe Bryant is slowing showing signs of returning to form, showing aggression offensively in last night’s game versus the Jazz, on his way to scoring a game high 27 points which included 13 trips to the line. Bryant’s offensive performance was not enough as the Lakers lose their 3rd in a row in preseason, falling to the Jazz 119-86.
Most impressive on the night for the Jazz was Gordon Hayward who is coming of a newly signed 4 year, 63 million dollar contract. Hayward was active on defense and accurate on offense, scoring a team high 16 points on 5 for 7 shooting.
The rookie Dante Exum who many Lakers fans coveted in the NBA draft had struggled since being drafted 5th overall, both in Summer League and the 3 preseason games prior to last night. Last night, Exum looked more like the hot young prospect that scouts touted about prior to the draft. Exum scored 13 points on 3 for 6 from the field and a perfect 6 for 6 from the free throw line. Most impressive part of Exum’s game last night was he showed that court vision and passing skills that was, routinely getting by his defender and getting the pass to the appropriate spot. Exum finished with 6 assists.
The win keeps the Jazz record in preseason at a perfect 4-0.
The lost puts the Lakers preseason record at an unimpressive 1-3. Lakers get another shot as they play this same Jazz team in their next game on Sunday at Staples Center.
