The Golden State Warriors took the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday night, 112-94. The Warriors were led by Klay Thompons who finished 20 points, 13 of those coming in the 3rd quarter alone.
Blake Griffin picked up right where he left off last season, playing exceptionally well; Griffin had a game high 24 points and 12 rebounds. Many of Griffin’s baskets were jumpers which is an area of his game that needs work but last night he was knocking them down.
Newly added big man, Spencer Hawes, played well in his debut as a Clipper, scoring 9 points and grabbing 8 rebounds in 24 minutes.
Chris Paul led the team with 9 assists and both he and Jamal Crawford chipped in 14 points on an identical 5 for 10 from the field.
The Clippers made the game close in the closing minutes but the Warriors ended the game on a 14-2 stretch that pulled them ahead for good.
The Clippers next game is Sunday, October 12, in Portland to play the Trailblazers.
