2014 NBA Free Agency: Day 7 Commitments

There was an increase in free agent activity following the holiday weekend, but still nothing from the big names that will allow the dominos to fall. The Carmelo Anthony and Lebron James camps are still mulling over their options as the rest of the NBA waits.

As part of the Miami Heat’s plan to entice Lebron James to return, they acquired a few free agents to show improvement with their roster, agreeing to terms for Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger.

The signings of McRoberts and Granger don’t seem to move the needle and some have to wonder if the Heat’s inability to attract a bigger name free agents will be what leads James to bolt elsewhere.

The Magic have been active in free agency, picking up solid veterans to help their talented young core. Magic obtained a commitment from former Phoenix Sun, Channing Frye.

We have completed our first week in the 2014 NBA Free Agency period and the big news is still to come. The NBA moratorium final day is on the 9th and at 12 am EST that night free agents can officially sign with an NBA team. Most expect that the decisions from Anthony and James will be made before the moratorium ends, but it being such a big decision and that fact that signings cannot become official for another 2 days anyway, they could be looking to take as much time as possible
