The Los Angeles Lakers season is about to come to a very disappointing end. The Lakers are currently on pace to finish with their worst record since moving to Los Angeles and they’ll miss the playoffs for the first time in 9 years.
There were some bright spots this season; unfortunately, it wasn’t on the court, but on the sidelines. A place where you can always count on, year after year, to receive the 3 vital E’s in basketball; energy, execution and entertainment. It doesn’t hurt that the 3 vital E’s come packaged nicely in a collection of beautiful and talented team of dancers. I’m talking about the 2013-2014 Los Angeles Lakers Girls.
Throughout the year, win or lose, they were consistently on their game, entertaining the fans at Staples Center during Lakers games which this season were mainly losses. Home game after home game, beautifully orchestrated dance routines to today’s hit music, executed perfectly by the immensely talented team of professional dancers.
All of the Lakers Girls are worthy of having the prestigious Lakers name printed on the front of their dance uni’s, but there can only be one that can have the honor of being named the Raining3s’ Lakers Girl Crush for 2014.
That one that out shined the already luminous group, is Arizona State Alum, Shelbie K.

Shelbie shares 10 things about herself on her Lakers.com profile. We hand selected our top 3 things about Shelbie here.
- My favorite color is lime green, I love how bright it is and when I see it I just feel creative and energetic!
- I love sports! I enjoy watching football and basketball because I have been a cheerleader/dancer since middle school for those sports.
- I have way too many shoes! I love high heels, Nike and Converse.
You can view Shelbie’s entire list of 10 things to know about her on Lakers.com in the Lakers Girls section.
Justifying Raining3s’ keen eye for talent, Shelbie has been recognized well before her days as a Lakers Girl. In 2012 she was featured as Sports Illustrated cheerleader of the week when she was keeping the spirits up for Arizona State (my previous school which had nothing to do with our selection)
These photos are just a small sample of the amazing shots that are available in the SI.com feature which we recommend that you take the time to peruse.
From our count there were 21 Lakers Girls that made up the 2013-2014 team and all were selected out of a pool of hundreds from all over the country during the auditions at the beginning of the year; therefore, these girls are the best of the best in their field. In our eyes, Shelbie K. was the best of the 21 this season with her combination of beauty, energy, infectious smile, affable personality that radiates through her dance routines and talent. It is with great pleasure to name Shelbie K. as our 2014 Lakers Girl Crush.
