Pau Gasol puts the Lakers ahead for good on a strong drive to the basket with 12 seconds to play, putting them up 99-94.

The New York Knicks lose the ball on the following possession, failing to  inbound the ball and get a shot. Jodie Meeks makes one of two free throws before time expires.

Lakers won a season high 5th straight game and reach the .500 mark for the first time since November 30th when they were 8-8.

Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant had an entertaining scoring duel as they each scored 34 points in the game.

Steve Nash continues to show why he is vital to the Lakers offensive flow. He scored 16 points on an efficient 7 for 12 shooting and dished out 11 assist. He was instrumental in the 4th in the Lakers overtaking the Knicks and then maintaining the lead. Steve Nash and Dwight Howard connected on a few pick and rolls that ended with Dwight dunking or getting to the free throw line. While Kobe was aggressive for the majority of the game, in the winding moments of the 4th it was Nash that controlled the ball and made the decisions on the offensive end.

The Lakers will travel to Denver to play the Nuggets on Wednesday before returning home to play the Portland Trailblazers at Staples.
